What happens when a fashion stalwart pulls out of the biggest commercial fashion event of the year? Why chaos ensues, of course, and making for much concerned chatter is the news that Mulberry won’t be having a runway show at London Fashion Week next season.

After creative director Emma Hill’s departure earlier this year, the iconic brand is still on the lookout for a suitable replacement, which appears to have led to the decision to opt out of staging a London Fashion Week catwalk show. Speaking to
WWD,
a spokesperson for Mulberry explained that the brand "has not finalized its creative director search and will therefore exceptionally not stage a catwalk show.” Boo.

Shortly after her exit, it was speculated that Hill, who is responsible for spearheading Mulberry’s success with sell-out designs such as the Alexa satchel, was in line for the big gig at another creative director-led brand, Coach. But no, she’s keeping the fashion world on tenterhooks, and, frankly, the suspense is killing us.
So, what does this bombshell of an announcement mean for the style set and fans of the brand? Although there will be no new season of arm candy or runway props in the form of Mulberry-clad pooches, the brand won't be missing out on the fashion week festivities altogether. They'll, “definitely be participating in London Fashion Week and details of this will be released in the near future.” Maybe a party to announce the new creative director? Here’s hoping. (WWD)
