Christmas Joins The Locavore Movement Thanks To NYC Trees

Brothers Harold and Louis DeLucia are somewhat familiar faces around town. You may have seen them outside Vespa restaurant on the Upper East Side or on 21st Street in Astoria doling out fresh fruits, veggies, and flowers from their family's farm. They also work closely with restaurants to incorporate local produce into the menus, so they're indirectly responsible for some of the most delicious meals around. Now, the DeLucias have launched NYC Trees, a Christmas tree delivery service that has us rearranging our apartments to make way for the holidays.
The service allows you to order a local Fraser fir online. Not only will the brothers provide complimentary delivery to your home, but they'll give you a stand and install it for you, too. So, rather than picking out a tree that may have been shipped from the Carolinas or elsewhere, it gives you a chance to support local farms in an affordable way. Plus, the Fraser fir's angled branches and silver undertones make for prime tree trimming — no slouchy branches, here.
The DeLucias are also donating one tree a week to a family in need during the month of December. If you know someone who could use some extra holiday spirit this year, you can nominate them by emailing info@nyctrees.com.
Delivery is available in Manhattan, Queens, and Brooklyn, and starts at just $79. Now, all you've gotta worry about is decorating.
