The Clueless Dream Closet Now Exists In Real Life — As If!

Remember that envy-inducing scene in Clueless when Cher Horowitz gets dressed for school with the help of a computer that lets her virtually try on everything she owns? Pretty high-tech stuff for 1995. But, this is no longer a Hollywood fantasy relegated solely to that iconic film. Enter, FaceCake's Virtual Try-On System.
Shopping as we know it is getting a major makeover with this new technology, which allows shoppers to stand in front of a webcam and virtually try on clothes, accessories, and even cosmetics, all in real time. Imagine: no more fuss from stripping down in tiny fitting rooms with terrible lighting or spending your entire day going store to store to find the perfect dress or bag. Sounds like a sartorial dream come true.

And, these aren't stiff, paper-doll renderings, either. Each garment moves as you do, offering a truly lifelike representation of how you'd actually wear the pieces.
Previously, FaceCake's Try-On Swivel System has been used at New York Fashion Week and in select Bloomingdale's locations, but be sure to keep a look out in early '14, when the cross-platform technology is installed in other retailers. After all, since shoppers have proven that they're far more likely to buy merchandise when they try it on, the new technology is a win-win for consumers and retailers alike. And, all that time you had to spend changing outfits during a "quick" shopping trip? Whatever!
