If you're like us, you spent most of National Cat Day trying to secure a car full of kittens and cupcakes from Uber. But, to no avail — like many New Yorkers, we did not get to partake in that cuteness party. Today, Uber's offering another amazing service: Christmas tree delivery in NYC.
Uber, in collaboration with Home Depot, will offer the service today (December 5) from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Just open the Uber app on your iPhone or Android, and select the UberTREE option. For $135, you'll receive a seven-to-eight-foot Fraser fir (netted), a stand, an undisclosed Uber gift, plus free delivery. And, if you're looking to share the cost of the tree with roommates or coworkers, you can use Uber's fare split feature.
Once you've placed your order, Uber promises your fir will arrive within minutes. But, since the service will likely be in high demand, we advise you to manage your expectations for both the availability and the timeliness of this offer. However, you can take comfort in knowing that if you have trouble placing your order, Uber's got a great track record of making good with its customers. You should also take note that the tree is delivered to the first point of entry to your building, so if you live in fifth-floor-walkup land, you'll have to do some of the heavy lifting yourself.
Even if you can't order an UberTREE today, but you still want to creep on other people's Christmas decorations, head to Instagram and Twitter and follow the fun with #UberTREE.
