NYC Cabs Get Phone Chargers & Other Major Upgrades — Finally!

If you live in New York City, it's probably safe to say you've endured a crappy cab ride or two (or ten). Whether you were stuck in traffic, cramped into the back of a tiny, overheated vehicle, or overcharged for the lift, sometimes the bad experience is enough to make you prefer the subway. But, there's good news for New Yorkers: The yellow taxi is getting some pretty snazzy upgrades.
Enter the Nissan NV200 Taxi. These new rides feature passenger climate control, a panoramic glass roof panel so you can take in more of the city, reading lights, more legroom, and, best of all, USB chargers so that you can plug in your phone during that epic trip to the airport (or just across town). Sounds amazing, right? Well, the only catch is that these exciting changes might not go into effect if mayor-elect De Blasio isn't onboard with the "Taxi of Tomorrow" initiative. If you want to show support for the changes, and follow all the latest news, use hashtag #HailYes. You can get a sneak peek at the new cabs, below. (Gothamist)
