Mikal Cronin, The Entrance Band, Nude Beach: Webster Hall, December 11, $15
Fans of fuzzed-out guitars and big hooks should look no further than Mikal Cronin. The Ty Segall-associated guitarist has an uncanny ability to churn out perfect power-pop song after song. Singing along isn't a requirement, but after one chorus you'll be hard pressed to avoid it.
Wednesday, December 11, 7:30 p.m., Webster Hall, 125 East 11th Street (between 3rd and 4th Avenues); 212-353-1600.
Cass McCombs, Arbouretum: Bowery Ballroom, December 12, $15
Wistful troubadour Cass McCombs is one of our favorite singer-songwriters working today. Aside from this year's quietly beautiful Big Wheel and Others, he has a decade of Americana-laced folk to draw from.
Thursday, December 12, 8 p.m., Bowery Ballroom, 6 Delancey Street (between Bowery and Chrystie); 212-533-2111.
Factory Floor, Cities Aviv, Yvette: 285 Kent, December 13, $15
With its mix of industrial, post-punk, and techno, U.K. trio Factory Floor's self-titled debut is an unclassifiable genre-smashing assault. The band's show this Friday also includes experimental rapper Cities Aviv and noise-rockers Yvette, whose new album, Process, is one of the year's most underrated gems. Come out for the perfect mix of dancey and dangerous.
Friday, December 13, 9 p.m., 285 Kent, 285 Kent Avenue (between South 1st and South 2nd Streets); Brooklyn; 718-599-1450.
