“Cheese” Is A Good Baby Name, As Is “Phone”

A handful of Americans reportedly named their children "Cheese" this year. Among the 500,000 new parents surveyed by BabyCenter.com, nine of them claimed that they christened a "Cheese" in 2013. That's a 450% increase over last year, notes Daily Intelligencer's Dan Amira. "Cheese" is bullish, it seems, despite some people thinking it's a little outré.
But, head over to BabyCenter and plug in any word that enters your mind — "Thunder," "Critter," "Phone" — and you'll realize that America is a diverse country full of interesting people, with interesting ideas about what constitutes a good name. Maybe they are good names. Hell, just because this writer's name, with its Biblical roots, has been passed around for thousands of years doesn't mean that it's special.
"Cheese" is a special name. "Cheese" stands alone. (Daily Intelligencer)
