On its face, Twitter is about self-expression and real-time connections. But, in the interest of full disclosure, we get some guilty satisfaction out of the attention it brings us, the humble tweeter. After all, how many of us watch our phones for notifications after we put up a gorgeous Instagram snap or witty one-liner?
If only there was a way to scientifically narrow down just how to garner Internet praise...oh wait, there is! CNET performed an analysis of research done by TrackMaven on almost two million tweets and found the social media patterns that garner the most results. First and foremost: Uppercase letters get the most retweets, PLAIN and SIMPLE. Marketers have known for awhile that people pay attention to shouting, but who knew this could also translate to the Internet? And, even more perplexing is the fact that more people retweet on a Sunday than any other day of the week. Tack on an aggressive use of hashtags and you've got yourself one #viral tweet. Who knew it could be so easy? (CNET)
