As we reflect on the beauty trends of this past year, there's maybe no better source than Pinterest: hub of aspirational eye candy, infinite DIY braided goodness, and sparkly manicures. So, what were Pinterest-happy beauty lovers pinning the hardest in 2013? All in all, it's not that much of a shocker: All-natural, homemade skin care was really having a moment. Specifically, recipes that dive into the wonderful world of oils were getting the most attention. It makes sense, considering we're thinking about referring to '13 as The Year Of The Oils.

What we didn't see coming? Lots of manicures featuring hearts. We're not trying to yuck anyone's yum here, but, really? We just want to know why.

Also surprising: All the top-pinned makeup is just for eyes — there's not a bold lip in sight. Rather, pinners seemed to be in search of the ultimate daytime eye look, and forever chasing the perfect winged liner. We love a well-drawn cat eye as much as the next girl, but how could lipstick slip through the cracks, ahem, pins, like this?
