Alexa Chung can do no wrong. The It Brit is currently riding the crest of a very fashionable wave that sees the publication of her first book, It, the launch of her first beauty range with Eyeko, and while her tenure as presenter on the Fuse network is over, Fashionista reveals there may be something even more exciting to take in its place: a fashion label. Eek!
Chung was in New York to promote her beauty venture and revealed that 2014 could be the year that she finally gets around to designing her very own collection. Considering her previous collaboration with Madewell in 2010 was a resounding success, what can we expect from a collection all of her own? Well, she’s not sure as she says, “That’s going to be the first opportunity where I haven’t had a nine-to-five job…So this will be the first time to actually sort of sit down and think about it…I’m going to get it off the ground hopefully in 2014.” Can we hold you to that date, pretty please?
One thing is certain about the new direction Chung is taking. It will not involve cats or cat motifs of any kind. “I feel like Miu Miu’s done it, Tabitha Simmons has done it, Charlotte Olympia…Maybe it’s time to give cats a rest,” she says. You know what, Alexa, you may have a point there.
