Ben Affleck As Batman — Get Used To It, Twitter

When Warner Brothers announced that Ben Affleck had landed the role of Batman in Zack Snyder's upcoming superhero mashup Batman vs. Superman, the Twitterverse had what might be its largest meltdown to date. People weren't just mad that Affleck had been chosen to don the sacred cape and cowl; they were downright vicious. Most of the online vitriol centered around Affleck's last attempt at the whole superhero thing, which, as you might recall, didn't go so well. Affleck, or #Batfleck as he was immediately dubbed, was destined to tear down all the rebuilding work that Chris Nolan and Christian Bale had done with their acclaimed take on The Caped Crusader.
Well, fanboys and girls, the brass behind Batman heard your concerns, and frankly, they don't give a damn. According to Batman On Film writer Bill "Jet" Ramey, Affleck has been tipped to take over the role in his own solo franchise after next summer's Man Of Steel sequel is in the can. "I don’t think he’ll play Batman forever," Ramey said. "If I had to guess, I’d say five: BvS, three solo Batman films, and another DC team-up movie." If Ramey's right, that's a huge vote of confidence from Warner Bros., who are clearly very pleased with what they've seen of Affleck's reportedly grizzled take on the crime fighter. With principal photography for Batman vs. Supermanset to begin in February, we should be getting our first official image of Affleck in costume in the very near future. Breathe, Twitter, breathe.
