We believe the red carpet is no place to play it safe. On the contrary, we consider it to be a go-big-or-go-home sartorial presentation — but where to draw the line? Well, at last night's Critics' Choice Awards, Adèle Exarchopoulos arrived in this Louis Vuitton creation and brought red-carpet risk-taking to another level.
While the 20-year-old actress has already impressed us with a stunning appearance at the Golden Globes — if not also with her performance in Blue Is the Warmest Color — we didn't have quite the same reaction this time around. In what can only be called a more-is-more ensemble, Exarchopoulos made use of all the trends in her one outfit: lace, tiered layers, that sheer leg-veil thing (with what appears to be a spandex, shorts suit beneath), and feathers. Oh, the feathers.
Hey, we can't fault a fellow magpie for loving some major, jaw-dropping embellishments. But, perhaps the trends would translate better when highlighted individually. We're shrugging our highly under-plumed shoulders over this one.
