But, apparently, some people are immune to the constant barrage of Top 40 playing in every cab, drugstore, and bar on constant rotation. Thus, Shazam gets another opportunity to fulfill its divine purpose and provide ears with the sounds they so desire.
The song-identifying app released a list of the most-searched tracks — and the purchases that resulted from those searches. Much like the awards themselves, Kendrick Lamar was robbed, and only got one mention. Or, maybe that's because everyone has already listened to and loved all of his music? We won't jump to any conclusions just yet.
Anyway, the moments during the show that yielded the most Shazams were Lamar's performance with Imagine Dragons, John Legend's sensual piano session, Kacey Musgraves' sombrero party, Queens of the Stone Age's collab with Nine Inch Nails, and Hunter Hayes' Gaga-tastic belting. The most-purchased tracks were Legend's "All of Me", Musgraves' "Follow your Arrow," Hayes' "Invisible," Taylor Swift's "All Too Well," and Daft Punk's "Get Lucky." Kendrick Lamar and Imagine Dragons' performance prompted the most activity of all the above.
"Same Love" is absent from the list, possibly because it has been so extensively hyped at previously televised events. That, or people were too focused on the gigantic marriage ceremony assembling before the stage to pay attention.
