House Of Cards Season 3 Is Happening — So You Can Relax During Season 2

Just when we thought we couldn't wait any longer for the second season of House of Cards, we get some news that makes us giddy with excitement all over again. Netflix announced yesterday that it has officially renewed the show for a third season. As with the first two seasons, the third installment of House of Cards will comprise 13 episodes. That's roughly another 11 hours of gut-wrenching political hijinks, in case you're counting.
Granted, we were sort of expecting the show to have a long life, given its hugely successful first season and highly anticipated second one — and who can say no to Frank and Claire Underwood? Netflix also picked up its first Golden Globe this year, with Robin Wright snagging a statuette for her role. We were already tempering our excitement for season two with the knowledge that it could potentially be the least season, so the promise of even more episodes is very exciting.

The next question: How long can Netflix keep the show going? It's based loosely on The House of Cards, a BBC series that ran from 1990 to 1995 and is also available on Netflix. But, that series was only three seasons long. We hope the Netflix powers-that-be will grant us a longer relationship with Frank, Claire, and Zoe. But for now, we’re pretty satisfied with the idea of two more seasons to watch.
