It's Fashion Week again, and that means we're seeing lots of photos of fashionable people — people in dark furs and sunglasses, swiping their iPhones and wiping the smiles off their faces as they hope to be shot by street-style bloggers and fashion photographers alike.
What, exactly, are they doing on their phones? Sure, sure, Fashion Week's big players are voraciously texting assistants for the location of their next show or calling Uber drivers about how late they are, but common showgoers are most likely just chatting with their pals. Sometimes, especially for a situation as aesthetically stimulating as the catwalks at Lincoln Center, words just aren't enough.

Harper's Bazaar has created an entirely new visual vernacular for this season's Fashion Week with an exclusive line of emojis. It is a fabulous idea, because this is the week you need a new outfit for every day and night. If you are looking for a visual to say to a friend "Hey girl! Let's go dance at [insert designer]'s after-party, if we can get in!," the flamenco-dancer emoji may be a tired symbol. And, then, when deciding what to wear, the conservative looks Apple offers us with its current emojis just aren't doing it. Because, really, would you actually wear nude sandals and a green sundress to Alexander Wang's party? As if!
These topical new emojis fit the time and the week. They include black pumps, a studded ear cuff, a glass of Champagne, and a pair of juicy-red statement lips. There is even a Bill Cunningham emoji to capture your whole look!
Harper's Bazaar collaborated with London-based design agency Crush Creative to create the icons, now available in the iTunes store.
