Skrillex: SRB Brooklyn, February 12, $35
OK, just hear us out. No one is going to say that Skrillex's music is subtle, smart, delicate, intellectual, or well-coiffed — it's clearly the opposite of every one of those things. But, therein lies the wub: dude can create a live experience more outrageously over-the-top than any other EDM producer around. This week, the American dubstep maestro will drop by Output, Brooklyn Bowl, and Music Hall of Williamsburg, but his biggest show (and therefore the easiest to get tickets for) is at SRB Brooklyn in Gowanus. Don't knock it 'til you try it.
Wednesday, February 12, 8 p.m., SRB Brooklyn, 177 2nd Avenue (between 13th and 14th streets); Brooklyn, NY; 718-499-1700.
Total Slacker, Perfect Pussy, Life Size Maps, Honduras: Prudential Center, February 12, $10
If Skrillex really isn't your thing, there are other options. And, with a stacked lineup of indie and punk, this Wednesday's show at Baby's All Right delivers four great bands for the low, low price of just $10. Headliners Total Slacker make feedback-laced jams with a psychedelic bent, while Perfect Pussy are the punk band that everyone's talking about (and not just because of their name).
Wednesday, February 12; Baby's All Right, 146 Broadway (between Bedford and Driggs avenues); Brooklyn, NY 11211.
Kanye West: Prudential Center, February 15, $39.50
Even if you didn't cop one of Kanye's new sneakers when they dropped out of nowhere this weekend, you can still catch his Yeezus tour one last time. The self-proclaimed God (and occasional A.P.C. designer) will take his messianic mountain and White Jesus to New Jersey. Seriously, though, don't miss Mr. West this time.
Saturday, February 15, 8 p.m., Prudential Center, 25 Lafayette Street (between Broad and Mulberry streets); Newark, NY; 973-757-6000
