Frozen Breaks Major Record For Women In Film

Katniss Everdeen isn’t the only girl on fire when it comes to women straight-up dominating the silver screen. Disney’s Oscar-winning animated film, Frozen, that also centers around a female protagonist, officially hit the billion-dollar mark in box-office revenue this past weekend.
You’re going to want to break out your record books, kids, because this flick's success is making major history for women in film. Frozen’s director, Jennifer Lee, is now the first-ever female director to see nine zeros in profits. Hopefully, she won’t be in a one-woman club for long — hint hint, Hollywood.
We might not have to hold our breath for too long. Since ticket sales are proving women flock to films in which actresses take center stage, flicks directed by shot-callin’ females should fare just as well. Frozen may have just broken the ice, but we’re eager to see what future features can break through the glass ceiling. Oops, did we say "break"? We meant shatter. (Indiewire)
