Oh God, here we go again. Somewhere between Lykke Li's Youth Novels and Wounded Rhymes, the lady has just been absolutely killing us with sad, sad songs. We mean, killing us in that good-cry, let-it-all-out, "Someone Like You" way, of course.
Now, today, we're getting our first full listen at the kind of weepers she'll be serving up with her new album, I Never Learn, due out in early May. "Love Me Like I'm Not Made of Stone" (beat that for a title), is right in line with Li's progression toward sparer backing tracks and moodier lyrics. More than anything else, it reminds us of Gram Parsons' "Love Hurts," a classic in the tear-jerker genre. The video itself is literally a weeper — just three minutes and 49 seconds of a wet-haired Li slowly spinning in the aftermath of what appears to be an epic crying jag. It's beautiful, in a profoundly sad way (like so much of her recent work). For a similarly soul-crushing preview of I Never Learn, click here. Looks like this summer's going to be a gorgeous bummer.
