The Echo Friendly Is All “F*ck It And Whatever” In Its New Video

At Refinery29, our ethos of discovery means that we are always keeping our ear to the ground, hoping to unearth the very best new artist or an exciting collaboration from a musician we already know and love. That is to say, we take our music very seriously. We don't put our stamp of approval on anything that we wouldn't load directly into our own iPod (or Spotify, or other various audio devices) first. So, you can trust the excitement we're bubbling over with in sharing a new video for "F*ck It And Whatever" from The Echo Friendly off of its debut LP Love Panic. Here is what you gotta know:

Who? The Echo Friendly, the on-and-off again couple making tunes that strum your heartstrings and hit ya right in the feels.

How long has it been around? Jake Rabinbach and Shannon Esper have been making songs since 2011.

What do it sound like? The peppiest of breakups pressed to vinyl.

When should you listen to it? It's the perfect complement to those times you just want to sit back, sip your hot beverage of choice, and have a moment.

If this song was added to a soundtrack, it would play: During that scene where the guy's running through a suburban street to win his S.O. — who's quietly pacing in their bedroom, biting their nails at the possibility of losing their love — back.

"F*ck It And Whatever" has The Echo Friendly acting a little more (ahem) friendly toward one another than their previous tunes. Under the direction of Allie Avital Tsypin, BANGS' video personifies the notion of the apocalypse through a couple working through their problems. Its minimalist set puts the focus on its actions, the nuanced ways we try to make connections. "'F*ck It and Whatever' is about loving through difficult circumstances," The Echo Friendly told Refinery29. "We wanted to contrast the directness of the lyrics with a more abstract video that conveyed some of the dark humor and 'end times' vibe of the song" Check it out below! Oh, and be sure to check 'em out at SXSW if Austin is calling your name.
