The Next Thread Pop-Up Is Set For April At Union Market

Even though we love the thrill of the hunt, we also readily embrace a curated pop-up shop that brings the latest and greatest under one roof. That’s why we're so excited about the news that Thread, Union Market’s insanely awesome pop-up shopping event, will return to Dock 5 starting April 4. Thread, which debuted this past fall to huge success, is a three-day showcase of local and national retailers, indie designers, and artists.
The spring pop-up looks like it will be another must-visit, with locals like artist Brooke Bronner, renowned interior designer and author Darryl Carter, leather accessories line Moore and Giles, menswear retailer Mutiny, online shop Anthom, and Saint Clair Jewelry (who we got to hang with recently).

There'll be tons of national (and international) options, as well. Expect lifestyle buys from Sid and Ann Mashburn, shaving gear from Harry’s, grooming goods from Boston-based Follain, and lots more. There will even be a pop-up within the pop-up (how meta!). In this smaller showcase, called “Here + Now,” you can shop works by up-and-coming designers, like Tatusi, Erika Schrieber, and Tsion Rocks.
The retailers coming to Thread seem just as psyched as we are about the spring event. “There’s an excitement that every entrepreneur feels when opening a new shop, and we are fortunate to get to re-live that, even for a day or two,” Ann Mashburn said of her involvement with the event. As for us, we're marking our calendars and socking away some extra spending cash for early April.
Friday, April 4, through Sunday, April 6. Dock 5 at Union Market, 1309 5th Street NE; 301-347-3739. Times vary; more details here.
