The Giants Are So Money This Year — Literally, Like, Currency

BGG_SaveMoney_8
In the name of baseball season coming back around the bend, some pretty serious sports fans — a.k.a. San Francisco's United States Mint and the U.S. Treasury — are producing the first-ever concave coin. The shapely cash honors America's favorite pastime with a baseball depicted on the rounded side and a glove on its reverse. And, with The Baseball Hall of Fame celebrating its 75th Anniversary this coming year, the collector's item couldn't be any better timed.
The scratch will be produced in $5, $1, and half-dollar denominations, and designed by Cali-based artist Cassie McFarland — who competed against 178 contestants for the honor. The Giants have done us proud in recent seasons and we're thrilled to play home field to this cash-money creation. In fact, we'd say this is a home run.
