If a new study is correct, we're guessing you look pretty darn smart as you settle into work this morning. The Daily Mail reports that women dress like they mean business on Mondays, with 74% of females choosing a formal outfit. However, the study describes a "sliding scale of smart" that occurs as the workweek wears on — and that sounds very familiar to our faded-denim-and-sneakers Friday outfits.
By Wednesday, only 53% of women say they dress to impress. By hump day, 65% of ladies have also swapped their high heels for flats and report spending less time on hair and makeup than they did the day before. And, by Friday, we apparently have no more patience for suiting separates — more than a third of women report wearing jeans, and 20% sport sneakers to the office.
The study only polled British women, but we'd bet we have similar stats here in the U.S. The most interesting part of all this, for us, is that the ladies polled stated that dressing their best amounted to putting on their "battle armor" for the workweek ahead. Even if your day involves back-to-back business meetings or an avalanche of Excel spreadsheets, we guess it doesn't hurt to suit up. (The Daily Mail)
