Have you ever scrolled through Instagram and felt like everybody else is living way cooler lives than you are? Don't worry, it's normal to suffer from social media FOMO. And, it's probably just an illusion. After all, it's only natural to post only your most fabulous pictures.
But, just for kicks, the iPhone app Jetpac decided to analyze the world's 'grams to find out which country is the happiest. The result? Well, they weren't that groundbreaking. The jolliest places in each continent stacked up as Nicaragua, Brazil, Australia, South Africa, and Macedonia, respectively. In other words, if you live in a warm, beachy climate, you're probably having a blast. So, it's no surprise that the U.S. didn't fare too well in this study (we ranked eight out of 10 for North American countries).
But, there is one factor that we should point out. The rankings were determined based on the number and strength of smiles in Instagram — that means that all those smize-ing pictures don't count towards our happiness rating. Dare we call for a recount? (Fast Company)
