As someone who has fought for years against her curly texture, I'm slowly making the transition into embracing those tiny corkscrews that keep popping out of my scalp. After decades of straightening and processing, the terror I have felt in starting this journey has translated to looking for support from other girls with curls. And, this item on HuffPost Women — a list on why having curly hair rocks — is exactly what I needed.
I won't spoil the piece for you, but the enthusiasm writer Kendra Alvey has for her incredible curls is truly infectious. She mentions that little kids will look at you as if you're the biggest Muppet they've ever seen. I like Muppets. I can get down with that.
But, the best thing about the article is the heartfelt happiness she experiences at not slaving over her hair. While all her friends are blowdrying and flat ironing and spraying before wedding parties, she's the first one at the bar, drinking bubbly. The allure of simply letting your hair "be" is liberating, and the article has renewed my enthusiasm for this process. Tiny curls, let's see what you look like. (HuffPost Women)
