Watch The Trailer For I Origins, The Most Ambitious Film Of The Year

We first told you about Mike Cahill's eagerly awaited I Origins in our directors Power Grid story, calling it a "wholly original feature that explores basic human truths through the lens of science." Now, the trailer for Cahill's ambitious opus is finally out, and it doesn't disappoint.
Michael Pitt stars as an aspiring scientist who falls for a mysterious woman, a relationship that sets him on a course that could change the world as we know it. To say anymore would mean spoiling a film loaded with unexpected surprises, which brings us to the trailer. It's, um, pretty revealing to say the least.

Why Fox Searchlight decided to show so much in the first trailer might have something to do with the complex nature of Cahill's films. The Another Earth director's ideas are wholly original and large in scope, which can prove difficult to sell to audiences used to watered down sequels, remakes, and reboots. By showing us the film's romance/thriller/sci-fi aspects, the studio hopes to appeal to filmgoers outside of Cahill's art house niche. Whether or not you choose to watch the trailer is up to you, but if you do, know this: Pitt, and co-starts Brit Marling and Astrid Bergés-Frisbey will likely take your breath away.
I Origins will be in limited release on July 18.
