When it was announced that Gisele Bündchen was once again the highest paying model of the year — earning a sweet $42M salary — we weren't the only ones impressed. In fact, the IRS seems to be reading the fashion news, as well. And, as The Telegraph reports today, it's the Brazilian beauty's staggering income that's causing the government to take a closer look.
This is not the first time that a fashion superstar has come under scrutiny for tax concerns. Namely, there was the Dolce & Gabbana case last year, which resulted in a tax-evasion conviction for the famous duo. But, before we jump to any conclusions, Gisele wants us to know it's not the same case here. She confirms she's been audited, but her salary may not be as huge as we, and Forbes, believe. In one interview she said, "It's sad, because these people who write [the list] do not have my account number! I earn well, but it is not all this talking."
And, the lady's got a point. While we're always stoked to see a women killing in her field — in fact, getting paid even more than her male counterparts — we certainly don't see every check that's signed to her name. Regardless of the nitty-gritty details of Bündchen's income, at the very least we know we're all dreading the fast-approaching April 15 tax-filing deadline. (The Telegraph)
