In the last year, shower shoes were given a makeover from the likes of Chloé and Rachel Comey. Birkenstocks received the high-fashion treatment from Givenchy (and a fast-fashion one from Zara). And now, Opening Ceremony has thrown itself into the nostalgic, "ugly" fashion ring with an upcoming collaboration with Teva. Yes, Teva.
Known for its simple, tri-strap style, the water shoes that you probably wore to summer camp back in the day are getting revamped by the Humberto Leon and Carol Lim-lead line. In other words, this is not your bunk counselor's Teva. The first peek at the collection was just posted to the Opening Ceremony Instagram account today, and the designs still have the classic thick straps, but this time they're coming with a metallic shine, a sturdier sole, bulky buckles, and an extra ankle belt. It's ugly, in good way.
As The Cut reports, the collection will include three styles, the classic Hurricane, the Gladiator Hurricane, and the Ultimate Hurricane. And, yes, you can still wear them to the water park if you'd like. Men's and women's styles officially arrive online and in Opening Ceremony stores on May 23. Our feet can hardly wait.
