Staying true to a certain look is easier said than done. Trends are so alluring. So, we were more than a little impressed with this 96-year-old Toronto resident's charming and perfectly maintained interiors straight out of the '50s. She hasn't redecorated in 72 years — and we can see why. It's pure dusty pink and purple magic in there, complete with gilded frames, floral wallpaper, and a basement wet bar so good it would have made Dick Van Dyke tear up.
The owner, a former seamstress and knitter by trade, is moving to a retirement home and only taking her most favorite things (the pink bedroom set, obviously). While we probably all have grandparents with lots of retro furnishings, this gal definitely has a refined eye and amazing design sensibility. Click over to HGTV to see the whole home and pick up some pointers on soft shade combinations and restrained glamour. Whoever ends up buying it better respect the living room's sea-foam paint job.
