Dior Cruise Sets Sail — To Brooklyn?

Fashion folks and NYC locals alike were impressed when Alexander Wang brought his fall '14 show to Brooklyn this past Fashion Week. It was just the kind of unexpected, boundary borough-pushing move that only Wang could pull off. Unsurprisingly, fashion's major players are following in his footsteps — over the bridge, that is. Wang may have even been one-upped as far as daring fashion moves go: Dior itself announced today that it will also be heading off the beaten Manhattan path with a show at Brooklyn Navy Yard's Duggal Greenhouse.
This May 7, Raf Simons is moving the new Dior cruise collection from the fashion house's home in Paris to the distant shores beyond Clinton Hill. As WWD reports, Simons and the team chose the location as a complement to the resort '15 collection. According to the label, “we wanted the show to feel very New York." Of course, to assure that the show doesn't feel too New York (read: subway delays), the label will also be providing door-to-door transportation for its guests. We assume that means rides back to Manhattan — although if anyone could pull off door-to-door Brooklyn-Paris transport, it would be Dior. (WWD)
