Chloë Grace Moretz’s Latest Film Is Another Sobfest For Summer 2014

Hollywood's newest trend is plucking — no, tearing — at audience's heartstrings. And, it's not just with any kind of genre either. Adaptations of sad, emotionally wrenching young-adult novels are Tinseltown's new black, with Gayle Forman's If I Stay being its latest.
Chloë Grace Moretz plays Mia, a teenage cellist who falls in love with her town's resident rocker, Adam, before falling into a coma. (Don't worry: The trailer lays this all out with a swelling soundtrack to really make the presence of that lump in your throat known.) The car crash that caused Mia's coma has left her an orphan. But, the real meat of the story comes when she begins to have an out-of-body experience, going through various memories, contemplating whether or not she will allow herself to live or die. And here we thought the biggest questions a 17-year-old normally faces was about prom and figuring out who they kind of are.
The If I Stay trailer is below. While you're at it, why not rewatch this season's other tearjerker of a trailer for The Fault In Our Stars (sadness does love itself some company)? Wide-eye ambitions, youthful romance, and some sort of catastrophe; that is what YA successes are made of. Get the tissues ready, folks. Summer 2014 has now officially been dubbed the season of blockbuster sobfests.
