Chanel To Show In Locale So Remote It Seems Like A Joke

Bad news today for all the editors who balk at having to haul it over to the Brooklyn Navy Yards for fashion shows (like Wang's most recent runway and Dior's forthcoming resort presentation). They may have to saddle up for an even longer commute now because Chanel plans to stage its cruise collection on an island in Dubai this May 13. Because, duh.
So many Gilligan's Island references come to mind. Namely, the theme song replaced with the words, "With Lagerfeld and Delevingne, too." It's been confirmed that the millionaire and his wife will also be present. The island is a place where the reef isn't made from coral but pearls, and the sand shines like the metallic thread of a well-knit tweed.
While the isle, which is just half a mile from the coast of the city, is ambiguously, but officially, called "The Island," we took it upon ourselves to give it a more appropriate moniker. We're thinking something along the lines of The Quilted Cay or Tote-uga or The Black-and-White Lagoon. No matter the name, we can help with directions. Just take your haute ship on the double high Cs, and there you will find it. There you will find it. (WWD)
