You've got a year to wait, but that doesn't mean you can't get a little excited now. Saturday Night Live is gearing up for a star-studded reunion for its 40th anniversary, and it's gonna be a biggie. NBC has announced that on February 15, 2015, the long-running show will host a three-hour special. And, you'd better believe it'll feature some of SNL's favorite alumni.
The special doesn't fall exactly on the 40-year mark — it's about eight months shy of its October 11 debut in 1975 — but that hardly matters. Fans can expect a who's who of past and present SNL talent to appear, just they have in previous anniversaries.
Variety speculates that NBC and Saturday Night Live creator Lorne Michaels will spend part of the next year attempting to woo Eddie Murphy to appear on the special. Murphy never reappeared on any of the show's previous specials or returned in guest appearances since he left the cast in 1984.
