Contrary to popular belief, kissing Andrew Garfield isn't as heavenly as it sounds. At least that's what a skit on last night's Saturday Night Live would have us believe.
Taking a break from jamming out on his guitar and playing hero, the 30-year-old Brit took his first stab at hosting SNL on Saturday, wisely bringing girlfriend and The Amazing Spider-Man 2 costar Emma Stone along. That's when things got a little awkward.
The couple have amazing chemistry in real life, but they got goofy and clumsy in a skit re-enacting a classic Spider-Man kissing scene. Garfield sucks on his leading lady's chin, their tongues collide, and some truly unsexy open-mouthed kissing occurs. Finally, the frustrated director makes a suggestion: Let Chris Martin show 'em how it's done.
Rather than sweep Stone off her feet, the Coldplay frontman and SNL musical guest opted to "consciously couple" with Garfield. Let's just say that it'll be a long time before we erase the image of a wig-wearing Martin grabbing the Spidey stud and cooing, "Why don't you go ahead and show me that beautiful little tongue, come to papa." Shudder.
Watch the unlikely love triangle swap spit in the video above. Let's hope they had plenty of Altoids on set.
