Charly Bliss Just Wants To Be Loved

At Refinery29, our ethos of discovery means that we are always keeping our ear to the ground, hoping to unearth the very best new artist or an exciting collaboration from a musician we already know and love. That is to say, we take our music very seriously. We don't put our stamp of approval on anything that we wouldn't load directly into our own iPod (or Spotify, or other various audio devices) first. So, you can trust the excitement we're bubbling over with in sharing a new video for "Love Me" from NYC's own Charly Bliss. Here is what you gotta know:

Who? Charly Bliss, the four-piece bringing bubblegum to the punk scene.

How long has it been around? Eva Grace Hendricks, Spencer Fox, Kevin Copeland, and Sam Hendricks have been Charly Bliss since 2011. Their first EP, A Lot To Say, dropped last year. Soft Serve, Bliss' next outing, is coming this year.

What does it sound like? Charly Bliss has managed to do the unthinkable: take Karen O's gritty glitter and make it edgier.

When should you listen to it? Summertime, when the beer's flowin' (and the living is easy).

If this song was an ice cream flavor, it would be: Cotton candy with Pop Rocks and Sour Patch Kids mixed in.

You know what? There's nothing worse than owning a tandem bike and not having someone to ride it with. The poor fella in the first of three video installments for Charly Bliss' Soft Serve project just can't seem to get the girl. So, he rides around Brooklyn going through all the emotions a single person on a tandem bike would. Luckily, Bliss' track (available here) foreshadows a prosperous future for our protagonist, but it's going to take two more videos to see whether or not that second bike seat gets filled. Stay tuned, y'all.
