If the buzz out of Cannes is to be believed, it looks like Channing Tatum might be joining his Magic Mike costar Matthew McConaughey at the Oscar podium sooner rather than later.
One of the most buzzed about films going into the festival was Foxcatcher, Bennett Miller's follow-up to Moneyball. It's based on the true story of John du Pont (Steve Carell), an oddball millionaire who became obsessed with a pair of wrestlers he trained to compete at the 1988 summer games. Tatum plays the young wrestler Mark Schultz, and according to critics, his performance is a revelation.
In fact, the entire film has been getting raves, igniting early Oscar buzz for Tatum and Carell, who critics say is unrecognizable as the wealthy eccentric.

Tatum is on track for a very big year. Before Foxcatcher hits theaters this fall, the 34-year-old star is set to light the box office ablaze this summer when he stars in Jupiter Ascending and 22 Jump Street. "They're like, 'You know doing four movies back-to-back is going to kill you,'" Tatum said in a recent GQ interview. "I'm, 'Yeah, but that's something I can take. That's just going to be tiring, and tired doesn't kill you.'"
If he keeps knocking them out of the park, the more Channing Tatum, the better. Check out the chilling teaser for Foxcatcher below. See you at the Oscars, Channing.
