Well guys, it actually happened. After months of rumors and wishful thinking, Lupita Nyong'o has officially joined the cast of Star Wars: Episode VII. We already knew the Oscar-winning actress was not of this world, so she should feel right at home in a galaxy far, far away.
Joining Nyong'o will be Gwendoline Christie, otherwise known as Brienne of Tarth, the towering female knight on Game of Thrones. This will mark Christie's second appearance in a major franchise, as she's set to star in The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2 next fall.
Lucasfilm has yet to confirm what roles Nyong'o and Christie will play, but the production company did deliver on the promise to cast more females.

J.J. Abrams' highly anticipated sequel still remains shrouded in mystery, but we do know the actresses will be joining a cast that includes John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Andy Serkis, Domhnall Gleeson, Max von Sydow, Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew, and Kenny Baker.
“I could not be more excited about Lupita and Gwendoline joining the cast of Episode VII,” Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy said in a statement. “It’s thrilling to see this extraordinarily talented ensemble taking shape.”
Star Wars: Episode VII soars into theaters December 18, 2015. (Deadline)
