Apple held its annual Worldwide Developers Conference today, and although we didn't get our first look at the iPhone 6, as many had hoped, CEO Tim Cook did give the world a closer glimpse at the tech giant's vision for the future.
The most notable reveal was our peek at iOS 8, which will become available on iPads and iPhones around the world starting this fall. To get you prepped for its upcoming release, here are the five most important things we learned from today's presentation.

1. Notifications Will Be Interactive.
Users will now be able to interact with a notification directly when it appears on the locked screen instead of having to open up the app that it originates from.

2. Messages Gets A Makeover.

As the most used app on iOS, Messages is being upgraded in a big way, with the addition of audio and video messages, self-destructing messages, and location sharing, and the ability to remove yourself from group-message threads.

3. Photo Editing Will Be Easier.

The new Photos app will now allow you to sync your photos to your other devices, along with any edits you make to them.

4. Look, Siri — No Hands!

Thanks to Shazam's technology, Siri will now be able to identify any song within appropriate range without you having to pick up your device. That's right: You can now call Siri simply by saying, "Hey, Siri," which sets it into action.

5. It's A Family Affair.

If your clan is made up of Apple junkies, you can now share iTunes purchases across all your devices, as well as calendars, reminders, and photos. Just try to keep the racy selfies to a minimum. (Mashable)
