For those of you who were looking forward to watching a pointy-eared Channing Tatum put the moves on Mila Kunis this summer, we have some bad news. The premiere of Jupiter Ascending — the latest space opera from the ever-ambitious Wachowski siblings — has been delayed until February 2015.
The move doesn't bode well for the sci-fi saga, which lost a juicy July 18 release date right in the heart of the summer-movie bonanza for a far less glamorous spot smack-dab in the middle of Hollywood dump season. This likely means that Warner Bros. wasn't satisfied with early cuts of the film, which cost a whopping $150 million to produce.

Domestic distribution chief Dan Fellman pretty much confirmed as much, telling Variety "They were just not going to make it on time. A lot of the issue for us was getting it ready for the international release, since the foreign territories need additional time.”
The film stars Tatum as an intergalactic bodyguard who must protect a janitor (Kunis) from the forces of evil, because she may just be the Queen of the Universe. It sounds typically grandiose for the Wachowskis, who haven't had a hit since The Matrix Trilogy. Though major delays are typically a death knell for most movies, the move might actually benefit Jupiter Ascending, which should face far less competition with a winter release than it would during a crowded summer months.
Fans of Tatum can still catch the actor this summer in 22 Jump Street. Let's face it: One Tatum is better than no Tatum.
