Lupita Nyong'o busy life is about to get even busier. She recently joined the cast of not one, but two upcoming blockbusters: Disney's remake of The Jungle Book and Star Wars: Episode VII, which is already in production. Now, she's adding yet another project to the mix.
The Oscar-winning actresses has jumped on board Americanah, an adaptation of Nigerian author Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie's novel that published last year. The acclaimed title made The New York Times Book Review's list of the 10 best books of the 2013. Nyong'o will not only star in the film, but also produce it. She's teaming up with Brad Pitt's production company, Plan B, as well as D2 Productions and Potboiler Productions.
"It is such an honor to have the opportunity to bring Ms. Adichie's brilliant book to the screen," Nyong'o said in a statement. "Page after page I was struck by Ifemelu and Obinze's stories, whose experiences as African immigrants are so specific and also so imminently relatable."
With so many projects on tap, let's just hope she can still squeeze in some red-carpet appearances — where would we be without her refreshingly bold, always on-point looks? (L.A. Times)
