While everyone in Hollywood would love to work with Jennifer Lawrence, these days it feels like that honor goes to one man, and one man only.
Director David O. Russell has officially locked down his third film with the coveted star, and it may just be their most intriguing collaboration yet.
Joy, which tells the story of Miracle Mop inventor Joy Mangano, will hit theaters on December 25, 2015, smack-dab in the middle of awards season. The role of a single mother from Long Island who becomes a QVC star seems tailor-made for Lawrence, who proved she can pull off the tricky accent with ease in American Hustle.

Lawrence appeared on Live With Kelly and Michael in March and talked about the upcoming project. "David O. Russell texted me at I think four in the morning, and he was like, 'I think I want to make a movie about the woman who invented the [Miracle] Mop. You want to do it?'" she said. "I was like, 'Yeah.' I can just imagine David looking at somebody mopping and being like, 'Yeah, that's my next screenplay.'"
Well, sort of. The script was actually written by Annie Mumolo, the writer behind Bridesmaids, but with Russell's history of rewriting screenplays, expect the director to have the last word.
And, with a little film called Star Wars: Episode VII coming out just a week before Joy, December 2015 is shaping up to be a very, very good month. (The Hollywood Reporter)
