As we prepare for the official start of summer next week, our musical choices are following suit. We’re certainly trying to shift our playlist into warm-weather gear. In this edition of “This Is Our Jam,” we start things off with a bluesy-rock premiere from French Style Furs, followed by a new one from R&B/electropop duo Cathedrals, an indie-rock gem from Madi Diaz, and a summer-style collaboration from TÂCHES & Sonder. Finally, we threw some Little Daylight into the mix with a fresh track from the forthcoming album, Hello Memory.

French Style Furs

“Turn Or Burn”
French Style Furs is a side projects of musicians from Cold War Kids and We Barbarians, who have made dark, echoey rock music that preaches and parallels The National a bit. The upcoming LP, Is Exotic Bait, incorporates the writings of Thomas Merton in the lyrics (vocalist Nathan Willett is fascinated with the poet-activist). We love the merging of the minds (and bands) on this one.

Cathedrals

“Want My Love”

Neon Gold’s latest and greatest duo Cathedrals has put out a soulful, electropop track that is one sultry storm. The band’s emotive sounds fall somewhere in between CHVRCHES and Purity Ring — and the harmonies scream sex and '90s R&B. As you can tell, we’re completely smitten with this throwback.

Madi Diaz

“Stay Together”

Madi Diaz has shed her purely pop M.O. for something with a darker edge. “Stay Together” is the lead track from her upcoming record Phantom — and it's a song that has sass and a heavy dose of '80s-rock nostalgia. We have to say, this change does her good.

TÂCHES & Sonder

“Noir”

With summer upon us, there’s nothing like a little electronic-chillwave to get all of the dance parties started. This particular single is the work of British producer TÂCHES and is a combination of mellow harmonies and UK-house vibes. We’re having a love affair with the complexity of this track, and we can’t wait to hear more.

Little Daylight

“Mona Lisa”

Little Daylight sounds like candy, rainbows, and sunshine — and its latest single is no exception. With the catchy guitar riffs and sweet pop allusions, "Mona Lisa" is memorable and completely addictive. We plan on playing the debut record Hello Memory at the beach all summer.
