Sometimes Katy Perry throws a curveball that makes even her most critical of fans — you know, the ones that love to hate — nod in appreciation. Her recent performance on CMT's Crossroads is one of those curveballs.
The "Roar" singer joined country star Kacey Musgraves on stage for a few tracks including a handful of Bonnie Raitt covers, her own "Firework" and "Teenage Dream", and some Musgraves' originals. And, folks, Perry nailed it.
Perry and Musgraves duetted on "Follow Your Arrow," a track Musgraves pitched to Perry for her Prism album. Vulture reports that Perry told her, "You've got to keep that one for yourself. This is going to be really good for you." After hearing a countryfied Perry perform it, though, something tells us it could've been big for her, too. Oh well, perhaps this will mark the beginning of a new, less-poppy Katy Perry era. Hey, if Taylor Swift can go from country to pop, who's to say Perry can't move in the opposite direction? (Vulture)
