The Beautiful Game is about to become even more beautiful — especially where hairstyles are concerned. The FIFA folks have invited Brazil's national treasure, Gisele Bündchen, to present the trophy to this year's World Cup winner. Will she take them up on their offer? "Barring any riots that would make it unsafe, she will," reports the Boston Globe. Typically, the host country's head of state serves as trophy-presenter. But, fans are none too pleased with President Dilma Rousseff for spending $11 billion on the tournament "at a time when tens of millions of Brazilians are poor," the Globe relays. Naturally, Bündchen was the logical stand-in. (Think of how often the Queen must ring Kate Moss's mobile...)
Gisele isn't the sole familiar name in this fashion/sports story; Louis Vuitton "is dressing" the World Cup trophy in a custom-made, monogrammed trunk, Women's Wear Daily writes. "The case opens from the front and at the top to allow the trophy to be easily removed…at the final game on July 13," the brand said. No word on what Bündchen may wear, though we're schadenfreude-ing for a stretchy headband.
