Spoilers ahead for parts of season 4.
For the legions of Game of Thrones fans still heartbroken over the beloved Oberyn Martell's death-by-thumbing in the recently concluded season 4, we have some very good news. Creators Dan Weiss and David Benioff confirmed to Entertainment Weekly that drafts of every episode of season 5 are complete, and that we will be visiting Dorne, the Red Viper's hedonistic home.
"There will be Dorne, and we’re excited about it," they wrote via email. "Who wouldn’t want to hang out in Dorne? They have admirable values and priorities. And, have you seen Oberyn’s coat?"
We have seen his coat. And, that's not all. From the moment Pedro Pascal's charismatic prince graced the screen, he instantly became a fan favorite thanks to an open-mindedness and a joie de vivre rarely seen within the grim confines of Westeros. Martell's time in King's Landing was gruesomely cut short, which is why news that some of his relatives will be joining the cast next year is so promising. The more Martells the better.
Unfortunately, we still have to wait many moons until these characters are brought to life, as filming for season 5 is still months from getting underway. Until them, let's all celebrate Oberyn Martell's life by drinking lots and lots of wine. (Entertainment Weekly)
