This Store Lets You Test-Drive Clothes Before Buying Them

Fast Retailing Co. plans to tackle one of shopping's fundamental truths: Clothing seldom looks right in fitting rooms, thanks to incubation lighting and funhouse mirrors. But, low-priced, casual-wear chain GU's new store in Tokyo's Shibuya district is allowing customers to wear items into the world without buying them first.
"You pick out clothes that you like," Kotaku explains. "You then go to the GU Fitting counter and put in a request to test drive the clothes. Then, you leave the store! You must return to the shop sometime during that same day, and you can decide to purchase the clothes or not." The promotion, which runs through the end of the month, is limited to 30 people (with three garments each) per day. Kotaku adds that Fast Retailing, "the company that runs Uniqlo and GU, is waiting to see how this service does and is thinking about expanding it," so it could end up Stateside in the future. In that case, we're waiting to see the installation of some GU-branded washing machines and thinking about bedbugs. What could possibly go wrong? (Kotaku)
