Yesterday, a source for Page Six revealed the sexually explicit details of the scrapped Lady Gaga music video for ARTPOP single "Do What U Want." A clip was leaked to TMZ later in the day, confirming the source's description, which we discussed at length, of a predatory R. Kelly taking advantage of anesthetized Lady Gaga in the Terry Richardson-directed visual.
No one involved released any official statements yesterday. Gaga did, however, post an Instagram of her two dogs with the caption "Stella and Asia after watching DWUW." (DWUW is the acronym for "Do What U Want.") She's not making the situation any better if the image of her wide-eyed pups is the only response she's going to give.

Yes, the video is shockingly offensive — so much so that there really aren't any words to describe it. And yes, wide-eyed would be one way to sum up the experience of watching it, but a single Instagram does not a statement make. It's the easy way out — and Gaga avoids admitting she made a huge mistake in glamorizing assault in "art" form. Where's the explanation? Where's the apology? It won't make up for the fact that the video was conceived and executed in the first place, but her fans deserve more. Gaga, puppies on Instagram aren't going to cut it.
