As the cover star of Esquire's August issue, Cameron Diaz looks really freakin' good. The actress spoke with the magazine about her upcoming movie Sex Tape with Jason Segel. It's a notable role for the actress, as it's the first time she's done on-screen nudity — a challenging decision for any actor. "I mean you see everything," she told Esquire.
But, perhaps the bigger decision is one she discusses in depth in the interview: her choice not to have children. At 41, Diaz feels in her prime. "I like being 41. I love it. So much shit just falls away. Fear, mostly. It's the best age. That's when a woman knows how to work things, or she doesn't care about that anymore. You just stop being afraid." And, part of this self-awareness is accepting she simply never wanted to have children in the first place. "I like protecting people, but I was never drawn to being a mother," she told Esquire.

For Diaz, being a biological mother wasn't something she felt ready to commit to. "It's so much more work to have children. To have lives besides your own that you are responsible for — I didn't take that on. That did make things easier for me." She continued, "A baby — that's all day, every day for 18 years. Not having a baby might really make things easier, but that doesn't make it an easy decision." And, she's got nothing but respect for mothers, especially when it comes to how challenging it can be to have both a family and a Hollywood career. "I have it much easier than any of them. That's just what it is."
