There's a reason Tilda Swinton is our perennial source of inspiration. She has killer style, is the undisputed master of said style, and has a serious way with words. Plus, she sleeps in boxes. Basically, there's nothing she can't pull off. So, just because this latest ensemble isn't exactly pushing any boundaries for her doesn't mean we're not taking notes.
Here, Swinton's working loosely structured Haider Ackermann separates. Her blouse and trousers (from the men's spring '15 collection) are rendered in the same sheen-y pattern, but in different pale, washed-out hues. The blouse has a shawl collar, which almost makes it look like a tucked-in blazer. Then, Tilda's added another blazer — this one crisp, white, and left open. She's finished the look with nude pumps, oversized shades, and coral lipstick
The double-blazer effect reminds us of the layered outerwear trend from last fall and winter. And, given it's only a few months before the autumn chill starts to set in (sorry!), perhaps it's time we think about revisiting the trick. If it has the Swinton seal of approval, we won't need much convincing.
