Who? MASA, the chance-band created by Brazilian Girls founder Didi Gutman and producer Hector Castillo.
How long has it been around? Gutman and Castillo created MASA back in the summer of 2010.
What does it sound like? If the Brazilian Girls traded the synths with pianos and thumping bass lines with Weezer-like riffs, the result would be MASA.
When should you listen to it? Road-trippin', day-trippin' — you know, when you're off playing traveler.
If this song was added to a soundtrack, it would play: Whatever Wes Anderson's next film is going to be, this needs to be the soundtrack to climactic montage. Bill Murray spinning around with the Wilson brothers and Jason Schwartzman to this is just too good of a daydream to not happen.

The best bands always seem to happen by chance. Castillo used to produce for Brazilian Girls, but teaming up with Gutman as a solo artist has produced some solid work. "Pinos" and its accompanying video featuring Miho Hatori from CIBO MATTO is so effortlessly cool, you wonder why these two haven't joined forces before. Wondering why, in this case, doesn't get anyone anywhere. Let's just be thankful they did.
