Ever since NBC announced its next live musical would be Peter Pan, the Internet has been abuzz with casting rumors. Today, however, the network confirmed Allison Williams will star in the title role. She joins Christopher Walken, who will play Captain Hook. And, we're pretty excited to see this gender-bending performance.
Williams released a press statement about her new role: “I have wanted to play Peter Pan since I was about three years old, so this is a dream come true. It’s such an honor to be a part of this adventure, and I’m very excited to get to work with this extraordinarily talented team. And besides, what could go wrong in a live televised production with simultaneous flying, sword fighting, and singing?”
It seems fitting that the actress who so often plays a girl who struggles with adulthood would play a boy who wishes he would never have to grow up at all. You can catch Williams in the live show on December 4. (Entertainment Weekly)
